The Barbizon and Seventeen Get Discovered Contest gives one girl the opportunity of a lifetime to be a model for a day and to be featured in the popular teen media Seventeen Magazine. For Kelly S., the 2015 contest winner, the trip was a once in a lifetime experience. “Walking into Seventeen Magazine‘s office was exciting,” she shared.
After being selected by Seventeen Magazine as the fresh new face for the contest, Kelly received a personal phone consultation with a Seventeen Style Pro weeks before her photo shoot in New York City. “I was very excited to get the phone call from Seventeen and to hear what they needed me to do before I arrived,” Kelly said. She even received a trend book of fall fashion projections to help her find the perfect back-to-school style during her pre-shoot shopping spree.
After landing in New York and exploring some of the city’s brightest and most fashionable sights, it was time to get to work! Kelly visited Seventeen Magazine’s headquarters to start her day with hair and makeup. “I was so surprised that everyone there was so nice,” Kelly said. “One great tip the makeup artist gave me was to use fiber on my lashes. Philip Friedman, the photographer, also gave me the tip to move around during the photo shoot.”
Following the the photo shoot, Kelly was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Barbizon Modeling and Acting school back at home in Texas where she will be able to learn the in’s and out’s of the modeling industry and other core personal development skills that will help her wherever her dreams and goals take her. “I’m so excited about my scholarship. I can’t wait to learn more about modeling,” Kelly said. “I hope that all teens will follow their dreams. It takes work and commitment to make your dream come true. Nothing happens by chance.”
