For kids and teens just starting out in acting, landing your first real gig is an exciting experience. When working on set you’re expected to be professional and ready to go. We have a few tips for kids working on set that will help make sure you impress everyone and keep the jobs coming!
\r\nArrive early!\r\nThe number one tip for most actors is to always plan on arriving at least 10 to 20 minutes before you’re asked to be on set. This will help in case there are any last minute hiccups in leaving the house or if you end up in traffic. This will also help make sure you have time to get settled and acclimated to the set before you have to start working.\r\n\r\nDon’t bring other people to work.\r\nIf you are under 18, you will need to bring a parent or guardian with you. Other than that you should not bring other friends or extended family unless you have been given permission by the producer / director. When you are on set, it is a job and you will need to be focused and attentive.\r\n\r\nBe well rested.\r\nMake sure you get a few good nights of sleep before you start working on set. In case there are long days or challenging environments, a good nights sleep will put you at your best to give a great performance.\r\n\r\nAsk if you need to bring anything.\r\nDepending on what type of acting job you are working on, wardrobe may not be provided for child actors. It is always to a good idea to ask ahead of time if there is anything specific that you should bring or wear.\r\n\r\nFollow instructions.\r\nFrom last minute script changes to scene direction, it is important to pay attention and follow instructions when working on set.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWant to learn more about Barbizon’s acting program?
