\r\nAs a new actor, one of your biggest goals is probably to sign with an agent. As you prepare to start sending out your headshot and resume, spend some time researching the agencies you would like to work with. Most agencies will have a website that will be able to give you a good idea of the kind of talent they are looking for and if they could be a good fit for your career goals.\r\n\r\nOnce you’ve done your research and secured an interview time with an agency, you will probably find that you still have questions. Be sure to sit down and think through what questions you want to ask before your scheduled interview time.\r\n\r\nIf an agency website doesn’t list talent, you may want to ask about the number of actors represented by the agency and/or by the individual agent. There are quite a few differences between large and small agencies and you should do your research to see what the perks and challenges are of different agency sizes before signing a contract.\r\n\r\nYou may also want to ask what types of projects the agent typically works on. Though many agents are versatile and work with many types of actors for different kinds projects, they can also specialize in theater, commercial or other types of acting. You want to make sure you are working with an agency that has the same goals in mind as you do.\r\n\r\nRemember, an interview is generally about getting to know each other and seeing how well you and an agent might be able to work together for a mutually beneficial professional relationship. Having a few questions prepared is a great idea but make sure you do your research to learn as much as you can before scheduling a time for an interview.\r\n\r\nBarbizon graduates can reach out to their local school for advice and guidance when it comes to selecting a reputable agency.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWant to learn more about Barbizon’s training program for modeling and acting?
