Nothing comes for free. You won’t get everything handed to you just because you want it. Sorry, but it’s true. Success comes at a price and that price is hard work. It may sound cliche but it’s so very true and there is just no good substitute.
When it comes to breaking into the modeling or acting industry, before asking the question, “Why haven’t I gotten any jobs yet?”, ask yourself if you have done everything you possibly can to get to where you want to be.
If you are a Barbizon graduate, did you contact your local school after graduation to ask what types of graduate support services are available? Have you started submitting to agents and managers? Did you research the agencies to make sure they are accepting clients for the type of modeling you want to do? Is your comp card clean and professional looking?
Take charge of your career. Take control of your dreams.
Enroll for support services, submit to agencies, research local competitions, audition for local plays and student films. Every piece of experience you get is another stepping stone to help get you to where you want to be. Refresh your knowledge of the industry by taking refresher courses. Ask for help and advice from people working in the industry.
In the end though, it’s up to you. You will get out of your career what you put into it. Reach for the stars and don’t ever stop. You can be anything you want to be if you keep working hard for it.
The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are: Hard work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense. – Thomas A. Edison
