A headshot is a critical tool for all actors to have. It is the image that casting directors, producers and others will use to see if you have the physical attributes they are looking to cast for a specific character.

Additionally, it’s important that a headshot shows your personality in a way that can help you stand out from other actors with similar physical features that may be auditioning for the same role.

Since your headshot will be what casting professionals use to determine if you have the look they need for a certain role, it is very important that your headshot is a good representation of what you currently look like. Things like new hairstyles and drastic weight changes may mean you need a new headshot since it needs to be an accurate representation of how you currently appear.

A good headshot is also an important way to let a casting director feel confident that you know what you are doing in front of a camera.

A headshot can be a make or break tool when it comes to getting a call to audition for a role. Yes, you need to be able to follow through and show that you can portray the role in an audition, but a headshot can be enough to make sure you get the opportunity to audition even if your acting resume is short.
